We are so excited that you have chosen Paradise Honors Elementary School as your school for your kindergartner. Kindergarten is set to start in a few weeks and we can’t wait to meet them.

Preparing your child for Kindergarten is an exciting and important milestone. Kindergarten is more than just the first year of formal education; it's the foundation upon which a lifetime of learning is created. Here are some ways to help your child get ready for Kindergarten:

• Practice Independence: Help your child become more independent by encouraging them to do simple tasks independently, such as dressing themselves, using the bathroom independently, and cleaning up toys. This will help them feel more confident and prepared for the routines.

• Read Together: Encourage a love for reading by regularly reading books together. Point out letters, words, and pictures, and discuss the story together. This helps develop language skills and fosters a love for learning.

• Develop Social Skills: Arrange playdates with other children to help your child develop social skills such as sharing, taking turns, and communicating with others. Practice simple manners like saying "please" and "thank you."

• Establish Routines: Establish a daily routine that includes regular mealtimes, bedtime, and structured activities. Consistent routines help children feel secure and prepared for the structure of kindergarten.

• Promote Fine Motor Skills: Encourage activities that develop fine motor skills, such as cutting with child safety scissors, coloring, drawing, and playing with playdough. These skills are important for writing and other tasks they'll encounter in kindergarten.

• Celebrate Achievements: Praise your child for their efforts and accomplishments, no matter how small. Celebrate milestones and encourage a positive attitude towards learning.
